Cyprus is an island of legends
that basks all year in the light of the Mediterranean sun.
A colourful history, 10,000
years long has seen civilizations come and go. Both Alexander
the Great and Cleopatra staked their claim here. Aphrodite
the goddess of love and beauty made her home on Cyprus, and
travellers throughout antiquity came here just to pay her tribute.
The landscape varies between rugged coastlines, sandy beaches,
rocky hills and forest-covered mountains. The sea in Cyprus
ranges from turquoise to deepest ultramarine blue with plenty
of small coves and beaches. The beauty of the mountains and
the countryside provides such enjoyment and Spring and Autumn
are the best times to go walking and explore the habitat.
The
Mediterranean generally has a wonderful climate for holidays
and Cyprus boasts more sunshine hours than any other.
When many
Greek islands are cooling off, southerly Cyprus continues
to enjoy warm sunny days. This means that the winters are
short, with
much
needed rainfall but with blue skies returning between the
showers. |
